Located south of downtown Bellevue on 114th Ave SE just south of SE 8th St. Call King County Metro at (206) 553-3000 or visit http://tripplanner.kingcounty.gov/ for public transit information.  From I-405:  -  Take exit 12 to SE 8th St; head west on SE 8th St to 114th Ave SE. -  Turn south onto 114th Ave SE; continue driving south. -  The courthouse is inside the Bellefield Office Park, on the right.

Criminal case is filed in the division that has jurisdiction over where the offense occurred, or if it is a traffic or criminal action, where the infraction occurred.  Criminal actions are limited to misdemeanors or gross misdemeanors.

Description

Has jurisdiction over misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors and criminal traffic violations for which the maximum fine is $5,000 and/or 364 days in jail.  Preliminary hearings for felony cases are also within the jurisdiction of the court.  Examples of misdemeanors are disorderly conduct, shoplifting and prostitution.  Gross misdemeanors include theft of property or services valued up to $250, driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol or other drugs, and hit-and-run.  The trial in a criminal action may be heard before either a judge or a jury.
