Department of Child and Family Services makes referrals. Hospitals, social workers and/or families may inquire about the center and the bed space availability before DCFS contact. At that time it may be determined if this particular placement would be appropriate.

Description
Offers medical supervision during a baby's withdrawal from drugs. Under the supervision of the center's Pediatrician Medical Directors, nurses monitor the infant's withdrawal and administer medication when necessary. Nurses' aides apply special handling techniques to help babies relax. Case managers work with the baby's family, provide referrals and information on the baby's condition, and develop a case plan with the DSHS social worker. After-care support services are provided to families caring for drug-affected infants that are discharged from the center. Provides six months of follow-up, as well as six months of support services including: - Phone consultation - Home visits throughout King County - Referrals as requested
