Description

The Court handles traffic and nontraffic criminal misdemeanor cases, traffic and nontraffic infractions and school zone and parking violations filed with the Kirkland Municipal Court. Criminal Citations: If a criminal misdemeanor citation is received in the mail or from a police officer for Kirkland Municipal Court, a court hearing is mandatory. If you have questions, you may contact the Court to inquiry if your hearing is required in-person or by a Zoom hearing. Failure to appear will result in a warrant being issued for the violator's arrest. Look for your arraignment court date on the citation. If no court date is written, the Court will issue a summons for your court date within two-to-three weeks. Call the Court if you’re unsure of your court date. Traffic Infraction Citations: The Individual who received the citation must respond within 30 days by either requesting a hearing, paying the fine in full or contacting the court to inquiry about a payment plan. After 30 days, a late penalty is added. Unpaid balances will be sent to a collection agency and may result in a driver's license suspension. School Zone and Parking Citation: The Individual who received the citation must respond within 30 days by either requesting a hearing, paying the fine in full or contacting the court to inquiry about a payment plan. After 30 days a late penalty is added. Unpaid balances will be sent to a collection agency. The driver is denied new license tabs until all fines are paid.
