Adult Basic Education
Education Programs offered by University of Washington's Extension
Provides continuing education programs to older adults, high school students and others interested in continuing their education through a variety of formats.
Provides the following extension education programs:
Access UW
Waives tuition for Washington residents 60 years or older who wish to attend classes as auditing students. If you are enrolling as an ACCESS student you may attend class with the permission of the instructor, beginning the first class day if space is available.
Distance Learning Courses
Allows students to take a 6-month study at home for credit or personal enrichment. Offers wide variety of languages, writing, business and other academic courses; some are appropriate for high school students. Many courses are available via e-mail and Internet.
Evening Credit Program
Coordinates evening courses at both graduate and undergraduate level that are taught by regular UW faculty and approved lecturers. Locations vary by program.
High School Students Program
Administers a program for high school students entering 9th through 12th grades where they may be able to earn college credit. Courses include world languages, English, mathematics and geology.
Lecture Discussion Series
Coordinates lecture services of distinguished experts in a variety of fields. Sometimes presented in conjunction with not for credit courses.
Not For Credit Classroom And Certificate Courses
Coordinates a variety of academic, personal growth and professional development courses. These courses are often on a schedule reflecting the University quarter system. Additionally offers planned programs of study for professional development and personal interest. Programs are designed by University of Washington faculty and practicing professionals. Locations vary by class and program.
Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI)
Invites adults over age 50 to come together to share intellectual interests and make new friends. Current and retired UW faculty and community experts lead short courses in numerous subjects.

Continuing Education offered at Seattle Central College
Offers continuing education and non-credit classes to help participants improve their skills for their current job, provide them with new skills to help them get a job or grow in their own personal development.
Continuing Education classes are here for the public, providing access to affordable ongoing education (not for college credit). Fall classes are held in person, online, or a hybrid of the two. Registration is quick and easy. No experience is needed for most classes.

Offers a variety of daytime classes for older adults of any age.
Offers approximately 30-40 classes per 8-week term on various subjects, including exercise, cultural issues, humanities, sciences, current events, creative arts, and wellness. Classes are offered in person and on zoom. Free lunch-time talks, open to the public, are offered throughout each term.
