Provides before- and after-school child care programs.  Before-school program offers time for fun with friends, homework help, quiet activities, art projects, gym games, and game room activities.  A light breakfast and afternoon snack are offered daily.  The after-school program combines children by grade with a trained counselor.  Together they participate in age-appropriate activities and field trips.  Vacation child care is available for winter, spring and summer breaks.  Also offers a Pre-K program for youth ages 4-5, located at the main Ballard Boys & Girls Club location.  Clients are transported to and from school in conjunction with before- and after-school care; transportation is also provided for field trips.

The After School Program provides year-round enriching activities designed to support youth in their academic, social-emotional, and life skills development. Offers a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where students can thrive academically through personalized assistance, targeted literacy development, diverse enrichment activities, and access to technology. Beyond academics, the program promotes social-emotional well-being and life skills through a variety of recreational indoor and outdoor activities, including amateur sports teams such as basketball, flag football, and soccer. These team-based sports provide opportunities for youth to build teamwork, leadership, and resilience while staying active and engaged. Additionally, field trips and enrichment groups further support personal growth and foster a sense of community and belonging. During the summer, the Summer Splash program combats the "summer slide" by reinforcing literacy and math skills to help students maintain and improve their academic performance. Also partners with the Kent School District to provide free summer lunches for youth under 18 at all three program locations. The program operates at three King County Housing Authority sites. Each community recreation center features computer labs, activity rooms, teen spaces, and a variety of recreational and educational programming to create a well-rounded experience. Students also receive healthy snacks to stay energized and focused. The program focuses on key life skills such as leadership, teamwork, and resilience, while fostering both soft and durable skills. With the guidance of positive adult role models, youth are empowered to overcome challenges, build confidence, and succeed academically and personally.

Offers a multicultural academic program in partnership with the Seattle World School (SWS). Helps recent-arrival students from diverse countries increase their skills in math and English, while understanding and appreciating theirs and each other's cultures. Students may earn credit towards graduation for attending summer school during the months of July and August.

Power Hour Power Hour is a mandatory hour where members work on their homework and school related activities.  Power Hour encourage youth to be responsible for their homework and academic success by providing them a quiet environment in which to complete their homework.  Adult and youth volunteers provide homework help and tutoring to encourage members to become self-directed learners.

Coordinates a yearlong achievement program designed to recruit, stimulate, and encourage high academic and cultural achievement among African-American high school students.   Recruits students annually and conducts annual Academic Olympic competitions for students in 9th-12th grades in NAACP Branches throughout the country.   First place local winners then compete with youth from other cities at the National ACT-SO finals held during our National Convention. Includes 26 categories of competition such as sciences, arts and humanities.

Provides a school-age childcare program for students enrolled at the John Stanford International School.  Activities include supervised play, homework completion time, cooking, arts and crafts projects, group games, science activities, snacks, and other continuing projects.

Provides an after-school drop-in center for teens. Activities at the center include indoor basketball, volleyball, badminton, dodgeball, indoor soccer, DJ multimedia, foosball, ping pong, video games, movies, martial arts classes and an art lab with painting, drawing, coloring and carving activities.  Also offers a computer lab with tutoring and homework help. Serves as a site for the YouthForce job training program.

If you are working on a tough homework assignment or have questions about a lesson, come to the Library for Homework Help. We have volunteers who can help K-12 students with math, science, English, social studies and science. Students without homework can read and play learning enrichment games with trained tutors. You can get Homework Help most days during the school year, except on weekends and school holidays. No reservations are needed just come to the Library during Homework Help hours and bring your homework assignment and textbook. If our volunteers do not know an answer, they will help you find it. Do not worry if you do not have all the supplies you need. We have many things available that you can use, like graphing calculators, markers, paper, pencils, and a laptop. After school youth programs combine developmental learning, mentorship, and team building. These programs provide a place for kids to play, do homework, and pursue extracurricular goals. This includes activities such as field trips, hiking, gym, volleyball, carts, obstacle courses, youth game room, and food. Also offer homework help for youth in grades 1-7.
