Trains and places community volunteers in elementary schools to empower young students with strong literacy skills.  Works one on one with students to help increase their rate of learning.

We offer a diverse schedule of in-school and after-school programming designed to support the social and emotional development of our young participants, as well as their educational growth. From academic support to programming that strengthens positive identity and awareness, our programs help our youth reach their full potential. After-School is held throughout the school year.

Programs include academic enrichment, homework assistance, nutritious snacks, outdoor play and other activities geared toward students' social-emotional and academic skills. During school breaks, full day care is offered.

The program includes reading, academic skill building and homework help in structured one-to-one tutoring sessions. Tutoring centers are staffed by education professionals and volunteers. Provides an after-school program for East African refugee and immigrant students living in the Greater Seattle area. Services include: -  Tutoring and homework help -  Youth-led interest groups for increase community involvement -  Parent advocacy to involve and educate families -  Outreach to schools -  Tracking of student progress and grades -  Ongoing support and mentorship to youth -  Special workshops and educational events   Also offers a summer program to keep students engaged in learning.

Helps prepare low-income and/or first-generation Seattle high school youth for post-secondary education through academic instruction and tutoring, academic and personal counseling, life skills and leadership development, career exploration and planning, college application assistance, financial aid workshops and college tours. Also requires a six-week summer academic program at Seattle University with high school credit available.

Offers two evening programs per week - Music and scouting-type program for boys and girls ages 4-16 and a Youth Group for Middle School - High School students. Music and scouting program is every Wednesday.

Offers a multicultural academic program in partnership with the Seattle World School (SWS). Helps recent-arrival students from diverse countries increase their skills in math and English, while understanding and appreciating theirs and each other's cultures. Students may earn credit towards graduation for attending summer school during the months of July and August.

Power Hour Power Hour is a mandatory hour where members work on their homework and school related activities.  Power Hour encourage youth to be responsible for their homework and academic success by providing them a quiet environment in which to complete their homework.  Adult and youth volunteers provide homework help and tutoring to encourage members to become self-directed learners.

Facilitates a program that recruits, trains, and supports qualified tutors who are matched with refugee youth who need tailored academic support, specifically in mathematics, science, and reading. In-Home Tutors meet with their students in the student's home weekly for two-hour sessions of individualized instruction. Newly arrived refugee youth can receive tutoring services in a convenient and effective way that offers on-going support throughout the academic year.    The In-Home Tutoring program's long term goal is to improve the wellbeing and success of K-12 English language learners attending Seattle Public Schools through improved academic achievement, increased participation in academic behaviors, and increased parent involvement in students' education.

Time is divided into classroom instruction, individual and group work, mentorship, educational workshops, and access to scholastic resources.   Both sites feature Classroom Assistants who focus on assisting students as they participate in academic activities to improve their reading and writing skills and increase their knowledge of college and career readiness. The program strives to provide the information, resources, and access to opportunities to meet and exceed grade level standards, while completing high school graduation and college application milestones in order to graduate on time and with plans to pursue post-secondary education. Also provides opportunities for students to participate in civic and community engagement projects to build their leadership skills as well as to complete service learning requirements for graduation.

Coordinates a yearlong achievement program designed to recruit, stimulate, and encourage high academic and cultural achievement among African-American high school students.   Recruits students annually and conducts annual Academic Olympic competitions for students in 9th-12th grades in NAACP Branches throughout the country.   First place local winners then compete with youth from other cities at the National ACT-SO finals held during our National Convention. Includes 26 categories of competition such as sciences, arts and humanities.
