Local parishes provide services to families who are pregnant or are caregivers of young children.

Support Services offered by Catholic Community Services' Pregnancy and Parenting Program

Coordinates with local parishes in Western Washington to provide baby clothing and diapers as well as other essential needs. Also offers parent support groups. Connects clients to additional resources. Call for a referral to a local program.

Programs that provide educational and supportive services that help new parents or those expecting a child, to prepare them on an emotional and practical level for the impact the newborn will have on their lives and relationships. The programs are open to all parents. Initial focus areas include healthy eating for the mother, danger signs in pregnancy, sibling preparation and being ready for labor and delivery, followed by practical information on basic infant care, newborn behaviors, baby supplies, bathing techniques, diapering, breastfeeding and other feeding options, as well as infant and childhood illnesses. Later topics may include walking, talking, toilet training and other aspects of child development, all to help ensure that infants and toddlers are nurtured, live in a safe environment and receive proper health care.

General Expectant/New Parent Assistance

Programs that encourage individuals whose plans for their pregnancies are uncertain to consider alternatives to abortion including relinquishing the children for adoption or raising the children themselves.

Pro-Life Pregnancy Counseling

Programs that pay for or provide cloth or disposable diapers.

Diapers

Programs that pay for or provide new or secondhand clothing and layettes for infants and young children.

Baby Clothing

Mutual support groups for parents who share a common characteristic or circumstance such as being single parents, dual career parents, multiple birth parents, parents with children who are out of control, or parents of children with disabilities, who come together for educational and social purposes as well as for mutual support. Meeting formats may include in-person, telephone or Internet options.

Parent Support Groups

Trained volunteers provide pregnancy-related information on a friend-to-friend basis via telephone and in person.  
Offers emotional support to women concerning pregnancy. Promotes a pro-life philosophy.  
Loans toddler beds, bassinets and some baby furniture to clients.  Provides car seats to clients when available. 
Clothing bank provides maternity clothes and clothing for children until youngest child is 5 years old. 
Provides ongoing in-service training by professionals for volunteers on regular basis.  

Pregnancy Support offered at Pregnancy Aid of Kent

Provides counseling, support and referral for pregnant women; pro-life philosophy; loans toddler beds, bassinets, baby furniture to clients. Provides clothing for children until youngest child is 5 years old. Provides car seats when available.

Programs that pay for or provide new or secondhand cribs, bassinets, strollers and other furniture that has been designed for infants/babies.

Baby Furniture

Programs that pay for, provide and/or install car seats that can be used to restrain infants or young children who are riding as passengers in motor vehicles. Also included are programs that provide booster seats for older children or provide referrals to organizations that provide the seats or the safety checks.
