The CDL Program the opportunity to earn a Class A Commercial Driver’s License at no cost. Participants receive classroom and actual seat time instruction coupled with ANEW’s support services that help students overcome obstacles to landing and keeping high wage employment.

A variety of activities and program are available for teens in Redmond. Many of these activities are located at the Old Firehouse Teen Center in downtown Redmond. Activities include sports, music, arts, and tech, as well as leadership and volunteer opportunities. Counseling services are also available.

Acts as a direct referral from DSHS Community Service Offices for refugees new to the system who need employment services. Services include pre-employment training, vocational English as a second language (ESL) classes, skills training, job placement and customized employment training in specific fields, such as hotel housekeeping.

Administers the Jobs for Veteran State Grant program, a nationwide program designed to provide assistance to veterans transitioning from one career to another. Provides counseling, resources, employment connections, community partnership advocacy and virtual tools to assist in meeting the veterans’ preferred transitional career goals. Focused primarily on computers and iPad/iPhone use, this course meets weekly to instruct adult and elder clients on basic technology use in order to help them develop skills necessary for employment and day-to-day needs and opportunities. The course also teaches clients to use technology and social media to maintain communication, navigate around the city and stay connected with their community. Our clients are given new means to assimilate to their new home. This, along with the relationships forged among clients and volunteers, helps build confidence and prevents the isolation common to immigrant communities. In the iPhone/iPad section, clients learn to optimize its functions, which includes image sharing, translating text, apps downloading (i.e., Zoom, app’s function), map utilizing, storage managing, etc. The Digital Literacy section includes a bilingual Vietnamese and English computer manual, which provides a comprehensive understanding of the basic computer functions and tips to becoming familiar with the computer programs
