Career Centers are located at the Shorewood and Shorecrest high school libraries and are available to students and the public during school hours.   Staffed by two career specialists, the center offers job placement, scholarship and financial aid information, testing materials, career choice materials, and a variety of other materials to assist in post-secondary career plans.

Administers the Jobs for Veteran State Grant program, a nationwide program designed to provide assistance to veterans transitioning from one career to another. Provides counseling, resources, employment connections, community partnership advocacy and virtual tools to assist in meeting the veterans’ preferred transitional career goals. Gives veterans and their spouses priority access to WorkSource services, including the following: -  Job listings, job referrals and hiring events for private sector, city, state and Federal careers -  Job coaching for resume, application perfecting, strategies for success, wage negotiations and interviewing assistance -  Use of computers, photocopiers and phones onsite -  Skill assessments and referrals to training and other resources   In addition, the Disabled Veterans Outreach Program provides intensive case management and employment readiness services to transitioning service members, veterans and qualifying spouses with significant barriers to employment.   Local Veterans Employment Representatives Conduct outreach to employers to promote the recruitment and hiring of veterans; partner with Department of Veterans Affairs and Department of Commerce to implement employer campaigns to hire veterans and inform federal contractors on process and requirements for recruitment of veterans.

Supports adults and young adults with disabilities in securing and maintaining competitive employment in the community.   Services provided include a vocational profile, work ability assessment, job development, job placement and on-the-job training.   Employment counselors assist with transportation, personal care, assistive technology, workplace support and long-term career goals.   Serves as an Alternate Provider to DSHS - Division of Vocational Rehabilitation for job search assistance for people with disabilities.

Provides skills training to empower people to live independently in the community.   Services may include: -  Information and referral -  Independent living skills training -  Peer support -  Finding and retaining housing -  How to apply for Social Security, DSHS or WA Apple Health (Medicaid)/Medicare -  Assistance with employment including help creating a resume, job search assistance and job preparation services. All work is focused around the individual consumer's personal goals.

Provides a full range of career search assistance and vocational training for low-income residents in higher-poverty zip codes, designed to reduce poverty and support residents as they embark on their careers in pursuit of equity, dignity, and self-sufficiency. Also includes a randomized Guaranteed Basic Income pilot program, focused on domestic violence survivors.

Assisting qualified unemployed people in obtaining suitable work. Offers services to help participants successfully integrate into the community through employment. Includes employment services, behavioral health services and care coordination. Provides vocational evaluations to identify realistic career options and work abilities. Offers job seeking skills training, which prepares clients to apply, interview, and secure a job. Additionally provides job search assistance as well as job retention services once a client has obtained a job. Behavioral health services include psycho-socio assessments, to identify emotional issues, cognitive skills, barriers, and academic abilities as well as counseling, case management and recovery services. Care coordinators are available to assist participants with navigating and integrating their health care and social service needs.

Our employment and adult education services connect community members with meaningful employment at livable wages and other opportunities to build critical skills. Employment case managers and economic empowerment coaches help set goals and viable steps to achieve them. We also team up with local community colleges and other partners to connect individuals to vocational training, internship programs, and help with job placement.

Offers comprehensive job placement and retention services, including:   -  Vocational English As a Second Language (ESL) classes -  20 hours of job readiness instruction -  Job search assistance -  Short-term skills training opportunities and career counseling -  Case management -  Retention services   Services meet language and workforce needs of local employers and cultural needs of job seekers.

Places older adult workers with individuals looking for a trained, reliable workforce.  Workers have been thoroughly interviewed and had a Washington State Patrol check completed.

A local veterans employment specialist and Disabled Veterans Outreach Program (DVOP) specialists are available to assist the veteran population.  Job referral and placement assistance are provided to veterans.

Provides transitional and permanent labor program for individuals that have been impacted by the criminal legal system. Acts as a liaison between clients and the business community. Operates a day center for homeless women and women with children. The following services are available to clients in a safe environment: - Hot meals, snacks and food to go - Restrooms - Clothing and hygiene items - Mail service - Job search assistance Staff onsite can assist with computer and phone access, benefit enrollment, housing search assistance. Also may provide direct shelter bed placement into Seattle's Union Gospel Mission Women and Children Shelter for eligible women with or without children when available.
