Will assist veterans of all ages in completing all paperwork addressing new and/or additional benefits for veterans.

Veteran Benefits Advisor at Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Senior Activity Center

Programs that provide assistance for veterans who are having difficulty understanding, accessing, and/or are unaware of the full benefits and services to which they are entitled by law based on service to their country. The programs may help veterans understand the eligibility criteria for benefits and services, the benefits and services provided by the program, the payment process and the rights of beneficiaries; provide consultation and advice; help them complete benefits and services application forms; negotiate on their behalf with U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs staff; and/or represent them in administrative processes or judicial litigation. Included are Veteran Services Officers (VSOs) who are trained and accredited by the Veteran's Administration (VA) and can be found in offices specific to each state, the county courthouse, the local VA office and local veteran's rights organizations; as well as legal aid programs that offer more formalized legal assistance.

Veteran Benefits Assistance

Programs administered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs that provide monthly payments to veterans who are disabled and were discharged under other than dishonorable conditions, their dependent children, surviving spouses and parents. Included are compensation benefits for veterans with service-connected disabilities; and pension benefits for veterans with limited incomes who are age 65 or older or are permanently and totally disabled as a result of a condition not related to military service. Veterans who are more seriously disabled may qualify for Aid and Attendance or Housebound benefits which are paid in addition to the basic compensation or pension rate. A veteran cannot receive both Aid and Attendance and Housebound benefits at the same time.

Veterinary Referral Services

Monetary benefits are paid to veterans with diseases or disabilities incurred or aggravated during active military service.  
Benefits received are based upon the amount of disability caused by the injury or disease.

Disability Compensation offered by U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs at Regional Office

Pays monetary benefits to veterans with diseases or disabilities incurred or aggravated during active military service if they have a discharge/separation under honorable conditions.

Provides monthly benefit payments to certain wartime veterans with financial need, and their survivors. 
Pension brings their total income, including other retirement or Social Security income, to a level set by Congress. 
An increased monthly pension amount may be paid to a veteran or surviving spouse if he or she requires the aid of another person to perform activities of daily living or if he or she is housebound.

Pension offered by U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs at Regional Office

Provides monetary support to eligible veterans with low income. Pension may be increased if the veteran or surviving spouse requires the aid of another person to perform activities of daily living or if he or she is housebound.
