Programs that maintain lists of animal hospitals or individual veterinarians and link pet owners with veterinary care providers who can meet their needs.

Veterinary Referral Services

Will assist veterans of all ages in completing all paperwork addressing new and/or additional benefits for veterans.

Veteran Benefits Advisor at Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Senior Activity Center

Programs that provide assistance for veterans who are having difficulty understanding, accessing, and/or are unaware of the full benefits and services to which they are entitled by law based on service to their country. The programs may help veterans understand the eligibility criteria for benefits and services, the benefits and services provided by the program, the payment process and the rights of beneficiaries; provide consultation and advice; help them complete benefits and services application forms; negotiate on their behalf with U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs staff; and/or represent them in administrative processes or judicial litigation. Included are Veteran Services Officers (VSOs) who are trained and accredited by the Veteran's Administration (VA) and can be found in offices specific to each state, the county courthouse, the local VA office and local veteran's rights organizations; as well as legal aid programs that offer more formalized legal assistance.

Veteran Benefits Assistance

Programs administered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs that provide monthly payments to veterans who are disabled and were discharged under other than dishonorable conditions, their dependent children, surviving spouses and parents. Included are compensation benefits for veterans with service-connected disabilities; and pension benefits for veterans with limited incomes who are age 65 or older or are permanently and totally disabled as a result of a condition not related to military service. Veterans who are more seriously disabled may qualify for Aid and Attendance or Housebound benefits which are paid in addition to the basic compensation or pension rate. A veteran cannot receive both Aid and Attendance and Housebound benefits at the same time.

Veteran Compensation and Pension Benefits

Provides sliding scale veterinary services to low-income housed individuals, and free services to those who are experiencing homelessness. Services offered include the following: 

- Wellness and sick pet care
- General exams
- Dog and Cat DHPP/FVRCP vaccines
- Rabies vaccines
- Dog Leptospirosis vaccines
- Dog Bordetella/kennel cough vaccines
- Medically needed nail trims
- Medically needed anal gland expression
- Flea protection
- Deworming
- Microchipping

Also strives to offer pet supplies such as food, leashes and other items, as available.

Free and Low-cost Veterinary Care offered by Seattle Veterinary Outreach

Provides sliding scale veterinary services to low-income housed individuals, and free services to those who are experiencing homelessness including vaccinations, sick animal care, examinations and flea care.

Veterinary programs that have fully-equipped mobile units that allow for the examination and treatment of animals at home eliminating the stress of travel and time spent in a clinic waiting room. Mobile clinics generally have surgical facilities including anesthesia, monitoring equipment, teeth cleaning facilities and a pharmacy.

Mobile Veterinary Care

Programs that conduct routine physical examinations, administer vaccines, test for parasites, perform a dental check and conduct whatever other tests may be necessary to ensure the health and wellbeing of pets and other animals.

Well Animal Checkups

Programs that provide physical examinations, dental care or treatment services for animals who are ill, injured or otherwise in need of care.

Sick Animal Care

Programs that inoculate animals to prevent them from contracting rabies, an acute viral disease that attacks the nervous system of warm-blooded animals, is uniformly fatal when untreated, and can be transmitted with infected saliva, usually through the bite of a rabid animal.
