Provides mental health consultation and treatment recommendations for UWMC patients as well as patients referred in by outside providers.   Also offers -  Short-term medication management -  Short-term psychotherapy with referral to community resources for longer term therapy -  Coordination of care with primary care physicians   This clinic primarily serves patients referred from within UW Medical Center and provides a setting for psychology and psychiatry residents to learn under the supervision of attending faculty members.   This clinic does not provide services related to court orders, mandated evaluations, disability evaluations or labor and industry mandated evaluations.

Individual child counseling allows each child a safe environment in which to explore and work on issues important to them.   Therapy with adolescents focuses on problem-solving and developing age-appropriate life skills.   Family therapy includes all who are involved in direct care of the child.  Also provides mental health assessments as well as psychiatric evaluation and medication management services.  Brief intensive treatment is available for families who are experiencing an immediate crisis situation. Graduate students in the UW clinical psychology doctoral training program working under the supervision of licensed mental health professionals provide psychotherapy and other psychological services to UW students and residents of the Seattle metropolitan area. Graduate student therapists work with children, teens and adults who are experiencing psychological distress. Clients must be a good match for a therapist-in-training. Prospective clients in acute crisis, those who require hospitalization or intensive medical intervention will typically be referred out or to specialized services within the Clinic (e.g., the Marsha M. Linehan Dialectical Behavior Therapy - DBT- specialty clinic). Marsha M. Wait lists are typically long for these services. CALM Clinic is a specialty clinic that provides training and clinical services in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and adults with anxiety, obsessive compulsive, and traumatic stressor-related disorders.

Provides diagnosis, treatment and ongoing care for patients who have progressive disorders that cause amnesia and dementia such as Alzheimer’s disease or Parkinson’s disease. Physicians, neuropsychologists and nurse practitioners specialize in diagnosing those patients whose illness is progressing rapidly or those who are experiencing symptoms at a young age. Prefers to see patients at the beginning of these problems, including those experiencing very mild cognitive impairment, because accurate and early diagnosis means more time to plan, more time to participate in research, and the opportunity to participate in decisions about care. Combines customized care, education about each patient’s options and ongoing support to ensure patients receive the right treatment and the appropriate follow-up care.
