Disaster Related Animal Rescue offered at Washington State Animal Response Team
Trained volunteers evacuate/rescue livestock and other animals (not wildlife) in emergencies and disasters. Does not foster out or adopt animals. In a disaster, will set up emergency livestock shelters and staff them.
Performs technical rescue of animals in emergency situations when requested by a government agency or the animals' owners.
Recruits, trains and supervises WASART and non-WASART volunteers to staff emergency temporary animal shelters in pre-selected locations and facilities with provided supplies and equipment at the invitation of a requesting agency or organization.
Post-disaster, works to reunite the animals with their owners.
