Outreach Services offered at King County Library System
Coordinates library van service to housing projects, nursing and retirement homes and homebound patrons throughout King County outside the city of Seattle.
Assistive technology equipment is available.
Regular stops are made by Traveling Library Center (TLC) vans at housing projects, nursing homes, retirement homes and child care facilities throughout King County outside the city of Seattle.
Annotated lists of staff-selected large print books are available.
Techlab mobile classroom travels to community, youth and senior centers.
The Bellevue, Bothell, Burien, Federal Way, Kent and Shoreline branches have a specially adapted computer which magnifies the library system's computerized catalog and which also has a synthesizer that can "read" the computer screens to you.
The Traveling Library Center also has access to materials in many languages.
Printed materials may be available by request in Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Japanese, Khmer, Korean, Marathi, Punjabi, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Serbo-Croatian, Somali, Spanish, Tagalog, Thai, Ukrainian and Vietnamese.

Library Materials and Services offered by Seattle Public Library
Loans books, videos, magazines, newspapers, CDs, DVDs, books on tape, and other materials at library locations throughout the city of Seattle; Provides public access to a variety of computer resources and programs.
Loans library materials, including:
- Books and magazines
- Newspapers
- CDs, DVDs and videos
- Books on CD, and other materials
- Mobile Wi-Fi hotspots.
Provides public access to a variety of computer resources, including:
- Internet
- Word processing
- Printers
- Searchable online databases
Offers story times, children's programming, teen activities and adult book discussion groups among its many services.
Among all locations of The Seattle Public Library, 400 programs are offered per month, as publicized on the Library website calendar.
Delivers reading materials to:
- Nursing homes and retirement homes
- Facilities for children and adults with mental, physical or emotional disabilities
- Day care centers
- Senior centers
Home service is set up on a regularly-scheduled basis for homebound individuals with an illness of six months duration or longer.
Books-by-mail service is available for people who meet the criteria for home service.
These services are available in Seattle only.
Libraries may also be visited to escape heat or cold during extreme weather during the day.
